March for Peace and Justice
during "First Night"
downtown Akron
Monday, December 31
8:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Meet at Federal Building, Main and Market Streets
We will march with signs and candles to ring in the New Year, a year we hope will bring:
an end to the war and occupation of Iraq
an overall reduction of military spending
a shift of spending priorities to social and economic justice — both here and abroad
a commitment to seek nonviolent means to resolve conflicts throughout the world
We will march from the Federal Building south on Main St. past several venues hosting "First Night" activities, then back on High St. past several more First Night venues, ending at the Main Library. No First Night button required. Those attending First Night activities can participate both prior to and following the march. If history is any indication, we will pick up people along the way.
Join us! Bring friends or family! This is a wonderful way:
to be seen by many people in downtown Akron
to invite people to join us in calling for peace and justice
to start 2008 on the right (and left) foot for peace and justice
If driving to the Federal Building, give yourself a little extra time since parking may be tight. Many lots in downtown Akron are free on First Night.
